Urine test is the most common test that performed by the doctors in hospitals or clinics. A doctor tests your urine to determine if you are suffering from any infection, if your kidney is functioning properly or if you are pregnant.

There are different types of urine test that are performed by the doctors depending upon the age and the gender of the patient.

For the children, the doctor usually tests the urine when the child is 1 to 2 years old. If the child is older than 2, then the doctor will test the urine of the child once in two months.

Sometimes, the urine test of the baby is performed by the parents. The parents can test the urine of the baby if he/she is older than 6 months.

For the female patients, the doctor will perform urine test at least once in a month.

1. Buy a urine bottle

To collect the urine sample from the toddlers you will need a urine bottle. Urine bottles are designed to collect urine samples and it has a cap which needs to be opened and closed properly.

2. Clean the bottle

Once you get the bottle, you will need to clean it. It is recommended that you wash it with soap and water. Make sure that you don’t use the dishwashing liquid or any chemical based products for cleaning.

3. Put the bottle on the floor

Now you need to place the urine bottle on the floor. If you want to prevent the bottles from breaking, then you will need to put it on the ground.

4. Put the toddler on the floor

You will need to put the toddler on the ground and make sure that he/she is relaxed. It is better if you try to do this before you take the sample.

5. Hold the bottle close to the baby’s genitals

It is recommended that you hold the bottle close to the baby’s genitals. Once you see the urination, you will need to release the urine into the bottle.

6. Clean the bottle

Once you get the sample, it is important to clean the bottle. You can wash it with soap and water. Make sure that you don’t use any chemical based products as it will damage the bottle.

7. Keep the bottle in the refrigerator

You will need to store the urine bottle in the refrigerator. As per the instructions given by the doctor, the urine sample should be kept in the refrigerator for a specific time.
